Ertugral rejoins 'Amakhosi'Kaizer Chiefs have ended weeks of speculation by announcing the acquisition of former Ajax CT boss Muhsin Ertugral as 'Amakhosi's new coach from the 2007/08 season.
In a show of seriousness to restore 'Amakhosi's pride, Chiefs Chairman Kaizer Motaung also unveiled former club top goal-scorer and record holder Fani Madida as Ertugral's assistant coach.
In addition, the club will also welcome back into its fold Elsa Storm, a no-nonsense international health and fitness coach, who was part of Ertugral's technical team at Naturena during their successful cup campaigns in the 1999/2000, 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons.
"I am very excited to welcome Muhsin Ertugral, given his successful history with the club. He will be accompanied by seasoned professionals, Fani Madida and Elsa Storm, as part of his technical team," said a delighted Motaung.
Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung added: "Two of 'Amakhosi's prodigal sons and our daughter are back with the family to catapult us into our winning ways."
Ertugral, who guided Ajax CT to the Absa Cup title this past season, was elated at the prospect of teaming up with the 'Glamour Boys' once more, but warned of the challenges that lay ahead.
"It's always good to be back home," he said. "I know what is expected of me. The challenges are great."
The no-nonsense coach was also clear about what needed to be done to return 'Amakhosi' to their former glory.
He continued: "We need to bring in that type of aggressive football. And we also need to sort out our defence, because I thought it was unusual for Chiefs to concede as many goals as they did last season.
"We need to play that kind of quick passing football as we did at Ajax. But there is something I will not tolerate. I always here people here talking about 'expressing yourself' - that is a word I do not want to hear because we are not on a dancing floor."
But the coach added that he was not against entertaining football, as long as it benefited the team.
Meanwhile, Madida, famously known to all as 'Didiza' in his playing days, was also thrilled to be reunited with his former club.
"I'm happy to be given the opportunity to work in this environment at Chiefs. I will use this opportunity to empower all the players through the experience I gained while playing here.
"I am happy to be here to protect the Chiefs brand so that the team can climb back to where it belongs," said Madida.

Simphiwe Mbambo? I hope you are not talking of the dreadlocked Mbambo who went to Bush Bucks because that one is a cow. Are you talking of the Mbambo who played in the reserve league and was also featured in the Celtics friendly game in PE?

yeah i was talking about simphiwe mbambo, he was playing with maritzburg united this season. The mbambo u mean, he is SIHLE mbambo, he is a left back.

Jake do you reckon Simphiwe has improved? I havent seen him in action for some time, but i will definitely remember how he helped Chiefs win the 2003/04 championship when he was fouled by Wayne Roberts after Wayne tried to dribble past him and he (Simphiwe) dispossesed Wayne. Mbesuma converted from the resultant penalty kick.

Kagiso Senamela is doing good at AmaZulu! I hope they will retain him to fix their problems on the left back.

Masilela from Benoni Premier United if he is still available, if not recall Kannemeyer or Buti Sithole.
Central defence, we will have to look outside South Africa because i dont know of any good ones.
Where does the Ugandan captain play, i think he is a central defender.

masilela signed for sundowns....
i agree with u about kannemeyer!! i wish he can come back along with baloyi.
the ugandan captain u mean is sekagya (left-back), he was playing in argentina with arsenal but he signed a three years contract with Salzburg (austria), coached by trapattoni. As central defender i hope chiefs will get july mahlangu from benoni united or ricardo katza from supersport as well as he can play left-back too. Also Neil Winstanley should be a good deal as central defender. Winstanley to partner McCarthy in the centre and kannemeyer on the left-back, Nzama as right back, good defense, no???
