Lamontville Golden Arrows News and Transfer rumoursWith Papi Zothwane off to Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows’ coach Khabo Zondo has begun searching for a playmaker to fill the void.
Zondo says he has been hit hard by Zothwane’s departure as he was assured by his bosses that the player had pledged his future to the Durban club.
“I still can’t believe Papi won’t be around for the new season because he was one of our influential players and our plans always revolved around him. I guess these contract tug-of-war battles never favour our side.
Zondo discloses that midfielder Lucky Sibeko, who was suspended for staying away from training is back, and that he and a number of other bench warmers will be at Chatsworth Stadium on Monday for a training session.
“Maybe I will have to groom one of midfielders I have at my disposal to try and fill the playmaking role,” Zondo adds.

Golden Arrows midfielder Thiyekile ‘Ace’ Gulwa says he is trying to having his contract with Golden Arrows terminated, so that he can join a team of his choice.
Despite Gulwa being a bench warmer with the Durban side this past season, Arrows are not too keen on releasing him.
“Even though I am still contracted to Arrows, I have already told the club’s management that I am no longer interested in staying at the club, but they have not given me my clearance,” Gulwa told Kick Off.
“I wonder why I did not feature in the teams’ playing squad last season because I was delivering at training. I have some offers elsewhere and I am hoping to get out now, but I still have one more season left on my contract with Arrows,” he added.

Thiyekile ‘Ace’ Gulwa will not be joining his Golden Arrows teammates for pre-season training, as he feels he no longer features in coach Khabo Zondo’s plans.
The former national Under-23 international, who made a big impact while still with Bloemfontein Celtic, is currently in talks with the club’s management in a bid to have his contract terminated and get his clearance.
“I was not a regular last season, so I want to go even if I am still contracted to the team,” Gulwa says.
“I believe I still have a lot to offer, but I need to play under a coach that has faith in my ability, who can help me revive my career. The best of me is still to be seen, it is just a matter of joining the right team,” he says.

Golden Arrows striker Alton Meiring has vowed to do everything in his power to land a contract in Russia.
The Cape Town goalpoacher will attend a one week trial at First Division side Krylya Sovetov Samara next week.

We will bounce back’ – Gumbi
Golden Arrows' captain Mlungisi Gumbi has laughed off suggestions that his troops will struggle this season following two losses in a row, against Kaizer Chiefs in the Supa8 and Silver Stars in the opening weekend of the League.
Golden Arrows are playing without the services of Papi Zothwane, who is involved in a tug-of-war between Kaizer Chiefs and Abafana Bes’thende.
Despite this, ‘Pro’, as Gumbi is affectionately by his fans, is happy with the new players in the team and the way they played against Silver Stars.
“We will bounce back; we always do,” he warns. “I was happy with the way we played against Silver Stars. The players showed a good fighting spirit. I’m sure we going to be back at our best before long.”
“The guys played as if they had been with us for a long time,” he says referring to Solomon Vilakazi, Philane Ngubane and another player whom he referred to as “Nkosinathi”.
Golden Arrows’ next assignment is against Ajax Cape Town away in the ‘Mother City’ next week.
“We are all looking forward to travelling to Cape Town. The spirit in the camp is high,” he adds.

Sundowns crash to Arrows
Golden Arrows beat defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in a Castle Premiership encounter played at Chatsworth on Wednesday afternoon thanks to a first half goal from Vusumuzi Vilakazi.
The game was exciting but in the end Arrows could have won by three goals had they taken their chances.
In the 23rd minute Sundowns should have opened the scoring when the ball was passed to Lerato Chabangu, right in front of goal, but keeper Nkosana Maseko made a great save to deny the striker.
The only goal came in the 44th minute when Vusumuzi Dhlamini passed the ball from the right to Vilakazi who controlled it then dribbled past two defenders to score.
Sundowns were unable to make their chances count in the second half but Arrows came close to finishing the game off in the 88th minute when a Norman Smith shot hit the post.
The win sees Arrows on four points after three games with Sundowns on one point after two games.

After the short break due to the AFCON qualifiers last weekend, focus returns to the Castle Premiership, with some quality matches taking place this weekend.
The PSL action resumes tomorrow night when Bidvest Wits lock horns with Golden Arrows at the Bidvest Stadium at 20h00.
Abafana Bes’thende are expected to enter the game against the Students as underdogs, having lost their last league game at home against Kaizer Chiefs, while Wits are presently enjoying their best form so far this season after collecting four points in six games.
Arrows’ coach Khabo Zondo will need to bring back the same medicine he used in Zambia with Bafana Bafana, to help his team find a winning formula.
Being a man of strong character, the Bafana Bafana assistant coach has not been afraid to throw his youngsters into the deep end at Arrows and tomorrow the likes of Vusimuzi Vilakazi, Lindani Buthelezi and Nhlanhla Ngubane could again get the chance to repay the coach’s faith in them.
The Durban-based outfit’s spokesperson Zwelethu Mzolo has proclaimed his team is ready for the trip to Gauteng.

Following earlier reports that Golden Arrows’ midfielder, Vumile Dladla was now a changed man and fully dedicated in his football career, it has now emerged that his troubles off the field are far from over.
The former Maritzburg City midfielder, who in the past has been accused of ill-discipline, has since been stopped attending training sessions with Arrows until he sorts out personal problems.

I get a sneaky suspicion this could be Khabo's * last season with us .. without him, our lives get a hellva lot harder ..
* Cos He'l leave for new challenges ... * He's been with us a total of 5/6 seasons now ..
Im thinking the BB assistant job could just be the ticket ...

Lusaka Dynamos of Zambia are threatening to take Lamontville Golden Arrows to Fifa over defender Billy Mwanza (pictured) and goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje whom they ‘loaned’ to Abafana Bes’thende two seasons ago.
Dynamos president Hanif Adams contends that Mwanza and Kakonje are illegally playing for Arrows.
Adams says when the two players joined Arrows in the 2005-06 season, he had an agreement with Arrows that they would stay for a period of a year, with Arrows having an option to buy them.
He adds that Arrows paid R210 000 for both players and that there was an agreement that the Durban club pay an additional R420 000 if they were interested in buying them at the end of their loan spell.
“What they did is steal these players from us because they extended their contracts for the current season without paying us,” Adams said from Lusaka.
“We’ve been trying to get them to pay us but nothing is happening. We’ve also written several letters to Safa and the PSL but we are not getting any help from them.”
