Professor not happy
Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane says he is disappointed and bitter about the treatment meted out to him by club management.
Ngubane told MetroFm Sports Centre that his employers have not told him anything about his future and is disturbed by the reports in the media that the directors are holding talks with several coaches to take over next season.
“It disturbs not only me, but my family and everybody at the club, the supporters and it has since become a racial issue in KZN.
“These people do not know where and how I got the name Professor; they are not football people. The mandate was to save the team and I did just that. We even did incredibly well in the Absa Cup, what else can you ask from a coach,” Ngubane said.
Ngubane said the management asked him to come up with a pre-season proposal and never contacted him again. He claims that the treatment he is receiving is worse than that he got at Bush Bucks.
“Like I said, I never had a problem with anybody here unlike at Bush Bucks where I had a problem with one of the directors, but I thought I had achieved the mandate set out here and was looking forward to the new season.
Nobody understands why I am treated this way, which is why some people believe it is a racial issue, perhaps the club wants to bring in a white coach.”

Maritzburg United’s new coach Kostadin Papic has indicated he would like to have Orlando Pirates’ midfielder Solomon Mathe in his team next season.
According to club chairman Farouk Kadodia, Papic picked Mathe from the list of players Pirates are willing to release.
“We will make sure that the coach gets all the support he needs in order for both parties to reach the great heights we are aiming at. The coach will officially start his new job later this month and this will give him ample of time to sort things out,” Kadodia tells Kick Off.
The former Buccaneers’ mentor, who committed himself to a two-year contract at Maritzburg, says he will stick with his fast and furious style of football.
“I believe in attacking football and that will need players with a sound, winning mentality,” Papic says, adding that he is looking forward to being re-united with Steve Lekoelea.
“I hope he’s the old Steve I know from my spell at Pirates.”
On players like Jabulani Mendu and Bennet Mnguni, who are queuing up for places in the team, Papic stressed all new players will have to undergo trials before being signed.

Maritzburg United striker Bradley August has renewed his contract with the side for a further year.
August’s contract with Maritzburg was due to expire at the end of the month and now the former Ajax Cape Town captain, due to resume training today, has decided to prolong his stay in Maritzburg, despite his initial intention to stay with the side for just one season.
“I did very well last season at Maritzburg and they (management) value my services, which is why I didn’t hesitate when they offered me a new contract,” he tells Kick Off.
The 28-year old, who was voted as the most consistent player of the season by the club, has added that he is looking forward to working with newly appointed coach Kosta Papic in the forthcoming season.

Former SA U/23 international goalkeeper Chad Harpur has blamed Maritzburg United’s management for making last season one of the worst in his career.
Harpur, who joined from Manning Rangers, was ditched by United at the end of last season after he saw little action, with preference being given to veteran Aime Kitenge.
“I had many problems with the Maritzburg management which is something that limited my game time. I could not understand why a top goalie like myself who has spent years with Chelsea, Leeds United and Millwall in England would be relegated to the bench,” he told Kick Off.
“The worst part was when I was dropped while the team was struggling, I was doing all in my power to help the team. I think in the three games I had, I did well, but it was clear they did not want me there.”
Harpur revealed that he will be holding talks with Bloemfontein Celtic in the next couple of days.
“Besides Celtic, I am entertaining some other offers as well, but I would love to play for a side like Celtic, who have a fantastic crowd and good management and players. I want to get back to national team fold and go back overseas again.”

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star Thabang Lebese is training with Maritzburg United with the hope of reviving his career.
The attacking midfielder, who has previously been on the books of Ria Stars, Dynamos, Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows, teamed up with the Midlands side on Wednesday afternoon.
Coach Kostadin Papic is yet to make a decision on the players he would like to sign for the upcoming season.
Since last week, the former Orlando Pirates mentor has carefully been monitoring trialists like Bush Bucks defender Thabo September and other Mvela League players.
September has since gone back home to mull over a contract offered to him by the ambitious KZN side.
Chairman Farouk Kadodia, who is currently away in Germany for the World Cup, is on record to have said that the club will only sign players the coach wants.
Since assuming his new duties, Papic has had to do without midfielders David Makgale and Mpho Rashete, who are yet to report for pre-season training, and word is they are being courted by Pirates.

Maritzburg United midfielders David Makgale and Mpho Rashete will face disciplinary actions being taken against them should they not report for pre-season training today (Friday).
This was revealed by United official Imran Kadodia, who said the players still had contracts with the team.
“We are aware of the Orlando Pirates interest in them, but since no one from Pirates has said anything to us, we expected the players to be back from Gauteng as they have contracts with us. If they don’t show up here on Friday, we’ll definitely take some action against them.

Maritzburg target Sandile Ndlovu
Maritzburg United have targeted Sundowns’ striker Sandile Ndlovu in their bid to strengthen their strike force.
United chairman Farouk Kadodia adds that they are also hoping to get Orlando Pirates star Gift Leremi, who is coach Kosta Papic’s target, in an exchange for the released ex-United duo of David Makgale and Mpho Rashete.
“We hope to finalise everything regarding Leremi’s transfer to us before the end of this week,” he adds.
The chairman disclosed that they would soon open negotiations with Sundowns soon.
It is understood that the lanky forward is also keen to move to his birthplace, Pietermaritzburg, in a bid to regain his impressive form he showed while on loan at Dynamos two seasons ago.

that rule is from FIFA. they don't allow players who are on loam to play against their original clubs. Last season, people were accusing sundowns of being cowards. its not their fault.
I'm sure FIFA have their own reasons for that.

exactly !!
BUT it seems like UEFA don't follow the rule because in 2003 or 2004, Morientes knocked out Real Madrid when he was on loan with Monaco. and in the same year, Ibarra(who was on loan at Monaco from Porto) played against Porto in the Final.
but all the domestic leagues around the world don't allow loan players to play against their parent teams.
