Mr Lolipop to make a PSL returnThe departure of Gavin Hunt from Moroka Swallows and Boebie Solomons at BidVest Wits has left the door open for a number of veteran coaches to get a foot in the door.
Foremost among these is former Wits assistant coach Zeca “Mr Lolipop” Marques who is currently working with youngsters in Bedfordview Academy.
Not only is Margues working with members of the Under-19 squad but he is helping senior players like Antonio Trigo, to get back on their feet again.
The veteran mentor, who was linked to Santos before they appointed Roger de Sa, said he did not take the position in Cape Town because he wanted to be close to his family in Gauteng. He also discloses that he was approached by Bloemfontein Celtic.
“I have worked with both Swallows and Wits in the past and enjoyed my stay at both teams. I have been following their games and personally think Swallows have done a tremendous job. Their administration has improved and they are now run professionally.
“Wits have also done a marvellous job and are now a highly rated team. I wouldn’t mind being part of either one,” Marques adds.
