next African cup competitions

Sundowns, Silver Stars, Swallows, Ajax and Chiefs??????
Jake

i cant really understand the CAF system....
i cant understand WHO and WHEN they play international competitions like African Champs league, African Confederations Cup, Cup winners Cup (Mandela Cup) and other ones....
can someone explain me??????
cause in europe it's so easy: who won the league and the runners up go directly in the champs league, the 3d and 4th play the preliminary round. 5th and 6th go to UEFA cup. WHO won the italian cup, play Cup winners Cup.

The champion of the Premier League and the second placed team advance to the MTN CAF Champions League, the third placed team, and the ABSA Cup champions, advance to the CAF Confederation Cup, which is the African equivalent of the UEFA Cup.

Many feel the competition should schedule their fixtures to similar timelines of the UEFA Champions League. African Champions League usually begins around January and finishes around November. Most (but not all) of the African national domestic leagues begin around July, August, or September and finish around April, May, or June. Because not all national domestic leagues begin around the same time, fixtures to this competition are organized poorly. And most national league administrators want to align the African Champions League to their national domestic leagues. The only way to fix this problem is to co-ordinate all national domestic leagues in Africa with African Champions League.

hey thanks so much boss!!!!!! that system made me so confused.
so thats why...
Jake

but this is a bit freak, because a team that won a title, advance in the african champs league, but what if the year after, they got the third spot??? they will play the confederation cup and the champs league at the same time????

The way i understand it is that, the winners from the season that just finished now, will enter next year's competition. that is the one that starts in Jan 2008.

so that means if sundowns finish 3rd next season, they will join the Caf Cup in Jan 2009

its a bit confusing..
Jake

yeah right!! very confusing.

but why african leagues dont start contemporary???? as in europe.
only few country start later, and some like germany, they do a big break because of the cold weather during xmas.
