Official Bafana Bafana Thread

Quote:
An astute betting man would have had his money firmly on Monday's eventuality regarding Bafana Bafana stars Benni McCarthy, Quinton Fortune and Macbeth Sibaya materialising from the very outset.

McCarthy, Fortune and Sibaya have all pulled out of the South African squad for the friendly international against Namibia in Windhoek on Wednesday and even caretaker coach Pitso Mosimane could not have been overly surprised.

Mosimane originally selected an enlarged squad of 21 players for the Windhoek game, which is designed as a dress rehearsal for the more important 2008 African Nations Cup qualifier against The Congo in Johannesburg on September 2.

And the Bafana coach mentioned meaningfully at the time he would be left with cover for McCarthy, Fortune and Sibaya should they drop out.

McCarthy and Sibaya have both provided plausible reasons for their non-arrival, but although a late communication has arrived from his new English Premiership club, Bolton Wanderers, claiming Fortune has aggrevated an old leg injury, he has, at the same time, taken on an old familiar role of "The Invisible Man" when it comes to representing Bafana.

"Benni spoke to Safa international affairs director, Barney Kujane," said Mosimane, "and put forward a fair case for being released from the Windhoek trip. He hopes to make his debut for Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and it is a pivotal game in his career. We therefore agreed to his request.

"I personally spoke to Sibaya," added the Bafana coach, "and he confirmed an earlier message from his Russian club that he was injured.

"As for Fortune, no one has been able to make contact with him N and Bolton officials say they have no number for him in Spain where their squad has been preparing for the start of the new English season."

The missing trio apart, the other 18 Bafana players have assembled at their Johannesburg camp and will leave for Windhoek early on Tuesday afternoon for the game which kicks off at 8pm on Wednesday.

The usual suspects are back to their business again Wink

Bafana Bafana have received a timely boost ahead of their international friendly against Namibia tomorrow with the arrival of Germany-based midfielder Steven Pienaar at the team’s camp this morning.

However, bad news is that Bolton Wanderers’ new signing Quinton Fortune won’t be available for the game against the Namibians after failing to arrive in time for the trip to Windhoek.

Bafana Bafana assistant coach, Khabo Zondo confirmed the arrival of Pienaar and said they are happy to see the Borussia Dortmund player back in the squad.

“We were also expecting Quinton Fortune in the camp, but Pitso (Mosimane) has indicated to me that he is no longer coming.”

The team is expected to leave today for Namibia and all the selected overseas-based players are in the camp, with the exception of Fortune, Macbeth Sibaya and Benni McCarthy who have withdrawn themselves from the team.

With all eyes focused on South Africa’s friendly international against Namibia in Windhoek on Wednesday night, coach Pitso Mosimane has planned to put out a strong starting team and feelings in the camp are very positive.

Indications are that the South African starting eleven will be: Rowen Fernandez – Vuyo Mere, Aaron Mokoena, Nasief Morris, Bradley Carnell – Josta Dladla, Benson Mhlongo, Steven Pienaar, Dillon Sheppard – Katlego Mashego, Glen Salmon

A surprise omission could be that of Siyabonga Nkosi, but Mosimane faces a challenge with Pienaar, Nkosi and Surprise Moriri fighting for the attacking central midfield slot.

“It’s tough in the midfield hey. Who do you leave out between those three players?” Mosimane asked.

Another option could be use Nkosi in place of Mashego and allow him to support Salmon with Pienaar just behind. Benson Mhlongo, playing in a holding role, will allow for this luxury.

But Mashego’s eye for goal is probably enough of a factor for him to play alongside or slightly behind Salmon.

Bafana Bafana had one training session on Tuesday night at the match venue, which consisted of a few warm up exercises followed by some basic work involving the wings culminating in attempts on goal.

After this, work was done on free kicks before the team went back to the hotel for dinner.

Tuesday’s programme is simply to take a slow walk out on the golf course adjacent to where the team is camped at the Windhoek Country Club.

The Brave Warriors are camping in the same hotel as Bafana and Coach Ben Bamfuchile has a decent selection to work with including the likes of Hamburg midfielder Colin Benjamin.

With him is Robert Nauseb of Santos, Moroka Swallows’ Henrico Botes and George Hummel and Hartman Toromba, the highly rated fullback who has just signed for Black Leopards.

South Africa put a smile back on the nation's face when they beat Namibia 1-0 in an international friendly played at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Namibia on Wednesday evening.

The visitors started the match well, but it was the home team that finished the first half the better side.

South Africa's best chance of the half fell to Surprise Moriri in the 20th minute when he connected with a Dillon Sheppard free kick, but Moriri's header went over the bar.

Bafana Bafana were almost punished by Namibia five minutes later when sensational midfielder Heinrich Isaacks took a long range shot that narrowly missed the upright.

The match then became a ding dong action in the middle of the park - with the score remaining at 0-0 at half-time.

In the second half Namibia started from where they left off by dominating the game and should have taken the lead in the 58th minute when Isaacks shot wide following a nice built up.

Namibia were to rue this missed chance as Bafana debutant Katlego Mashego scored completely against the run when he capitalised on a mix-up between goalkeeper Athiel Mbaha and his defenders.

This goal seemed to take the wind off the Namibian players sail as they could not find their redeem again.

Siyabonga Nkosi almost doubled Bafana's lead in the 86th minute, but his header was saved by Mbaha and Bafana had to settle for this narrow win in the end

Carlos Alberto Parreira will be the South African national coach, despite speculation to the contrary, but will only assume his duties in February.

This was confirmed to Kick Off by his spokesperson, Marcus Tineco.

According to Tineco, it was a dramatic second visit to Brazil by Safa officials on Monday that clinched Parreira’s appointment.

Parreira earned 300 000 US Dollars per month as Brazil national coach, and, Tineco reveals, has turned down an offer to coach newly-rich Brazilian club Corinthians for 227 000 US Dollars per month.

This forced Safa to up their offer to between 300 000 US Dollars and 350 000 US Dollars per month (between R2.25-million and R2.35-million).

“Two gentleman were with Parreira,” Tineco states. He says he does not know their names.

According to Tineco; “Parreira will sign his contract on September 1.”

There is a clause in the contract, according to Tineco, that allows Parreira to terminate contract at any point, but, crucially, does not require Safa to pay him out.

While Parreira will be with the national team for their Nations Cup qualifiers against Congo in early September and away to Zambia in October, he will only take up the post in late February. This, Tineco says, is not because of his wife’s illness, as has been reported, but because he has two pregnant daughters.

“He would not have taken the job if Safa had forced him to come earlier,” Tineco states. “His wife has been sick, and has had an operation, but this is not serious. He has two pregnant daughters, one due in January.

“With two new grandchildren, he wants to be close to his family. He wants to relax a little more after working with Brazil for the last four years – that was stressful.”

Parreira will bring with him a coaching assistant, Jairo Leal, who “was with him in the Brazil camp for two years and was a scout at the World Cup in Germany”.

Yeah ... He's a busy man .. but if SAA want him, then thats the only way its gon happen .. If theyd trustd a local guy all along !! Ngabe ses'yaphambili ...

Former Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has ended months of speculation about his future by officially accepting the position of Bafana Bafana head coach leading up to the 2010 World Cup.

According to SAPA, the announcement, which stipulates that Parreira will officially assume his new post on January 1, 2007, was authenticated in a statement released on Thursday and signed jointly by SAFA CEO Raymond Hack and Parreira himself.

"What was previously a matter of intent on Parreira's part," said Hack, "has now progressed to a firm, written acceptance."

It is known, however, that SAFA were desperately keen for Parreira to officially assume the position of Bafana head coach next month, but Hack said the reasons for the delay were "understandable and acceptable".

"His wife has recently undergone serious surgery in Brazil," added the SAFA CEO, "and, in any case, he is looking for a brief break after occupying the arduous position of national coach of Brazil for the past four years."

Parreira - who it has been speculated stands to earn R1-2million a month - will bring along his own technical staff, which includes an assistant coach, a physical trainer and a goalkeeping coach.

He is due in South Africa on a seven-day visit on September 1, just a day before Bafana Bafana's game against Congo at FNB Stadium.

The Brazilian mentor will meet with the SAFA Executive and staff during this period, as well as attending a media briefing to outline his programme, aims and objectives leading up to the 2010 World Cup.

He will return to South Africa a week before the all-important game against Zambia and accompany Bafana to Lusaka, although he will not be responsible for team selections, with Pitso Mosimane holding onto the position of caretaker head coach.

"Whether he elects to sit on the bench for this game will be his choice," concluded Hack.

Benni nets first Premiership goal

Benni McCarthy opened his English Premiership account when he scored in Blackburn Rovers’ 1-1 draw with Everton at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening.

The Bafana Bafana striker opened the scoring in the 50th minute to hand Rovers a 1-0 lead, but the hosts’ joy was short-lived as Toffees substitute Tim Cahill struck in the 84th minute earn the visitors a share of the spoils.

McCarthy went close in the first half when he fired a volley just over the bar and hit another fierce shot, which was well held by Everton keeper Tim Howard.

The striker also hit a volley straight at Howard towards the end of the second half.

Blackburn are currently 16th in the league after two games and Benni comes up against his FC Porto coach Jose Mourinho when Blackburn host Premiership champions Chelsea on Sunday afternoon

On Monday Benni McCarthy and Quinton Fortune were withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad to play Congo in a key African Nations Cup qualifying game at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

According to SABC News, McCarthy has sited "personal reasons and important commitments with Blackburn Rovers" for his withdrawal and will be replaced by Siyabonga Nomvete.

Fortune is injured and is not in the squad for his club side Bolton Wanderers who face Charlton Athletic over the weekend.

I was gonna be surprised if these two were going to make it to the camp... Wink

Nahtino

here goes !

Bafana Bafana and Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has retired from international football. This was confirmed by Safa CEO Raymond Hack on Tuesday.

Earlier McCarthy had snubbed a call-up by stand-in national coach Pitso Mosimane to the Bafana Bafana squad that meets Congo Brazzaville on Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

An irate Hack said it was unacceptable that McCarthy allowed Mosimane to draft him in his plans when he was fully aware he was not coming.

“Benni wrote a letter informing us of his decision to retire from the national team. We accepted his resignation because we cannot force any player to turn out for his country. If a player does not want to play for his country, it is sad," Hack told SABC News.

Hack said McCarthy cited family and club commitments as his reason for dumping Bafana.

Safa announced on Monday that McCarthy had asked to be excused from the national team due to family problems, however, barely 24 hours later Hack disclosed from Cairo that the striker had in fact retired from international football and that the controlling body would not pursue the matter further.

McCarthy’s turn around comes in the wake of his promise to Mosimane that he would make himself available for Bafana’s all-important African Cup of Nations opening qualifier against Congo if he could be excused for the friendly against Namibia a fortnight ago.

McCarthy, who has been in fine form for his English side, Blackburn Rovers, was one of Mosimane’s key players for the match against the Congo.
VHAMBLIDINHO

That must be his third retirement from BB if i'm right. we are now just waiting for Fortune's retirement and maybe Pinaar also Wink
Nahtino

yeah Pienaar is next ..probly ... who knows....

they dont nee th money really ..

Im sure Benny makes like R 400 K a week in England and coming here to a SLACK managed NT isnt worth his time ...

They get about R 15 000, Im sure he gets that but lunch time on a monday morning ...

Otherwise Benni's wife is pregnant ..with his second child !!!
Tsotsi

Hence I feel Parreira appointment is justified I mean He will be able to locate talent and make sure that our under 20's are ready for international exposure.
Who knows we might get 3 pallokas fro Brazil to fill those 3 positions.
Nahtino

Hahahaha !!!

well well... well see hey .. But Id say we have enough rough talent here ... ting is in BRazil, a lot of their players grow up in Academy systems now ... its no longer a thing of just plucking a kid off the streets and he's a star.. players come from clubs and work their way up .. coaching from as young as 12 years ...

thisisnt no chappies league type stuff either ...

I checkd a documanetary on Brazilian footbal once ... very intresting

Quote:
Benni McCarthy has spoken out for the first time, on the reasons for his most recent decision to quit international football. And lingering resentment at what he perceives as past bad treatment of players by Safa is the reason why he is determined to put club before country and concentrate on his new career at Blackburn Rovers.

“I’m tired of taking the blame every time something goes wrong with the national team,” says McCarthy who remains upset at the way he was treated by Safa after the Nations Cup in Egypt.

“I tried to stand up for players at the tournament and Safa made me the scapegoat for the team’s failure.

“I’ve been representing the national team for over eight years and in that time I’ve often put my club career on hold, only to be let down by certain individuals within Safa. Now at the age of 28, I have my family and the rest of my career to take care of, and that means establishing myself as a regular starter at Blackburn Rovers.

“In the past, my trips to play for the national team have hampered my club career but nobody stops to think about that – instead, I repeatedly get made a scapegoat for the national team’s lack of success.”

While many players have welcomed the interim leadership of Pitso Mosimane, coupled with the promise heralded by the appointment of Carlos Alberto Parreira as head coach as of next year, McCarthy has not been swayed.

He has not been involved in any of Bafana’s friendlies since the Nations Cup and admitted that he was surprised to be called up for the Namibia game, not long after signing for Blackburn.

“No word from anyone for six months, then I sign for Blackburn and they send the club a call-up, nobody had even bothered to take the time to call me,” he says.

“If I was to blame for the failure at the Nations Cup, why do they keep calling me up? And if I’m so disloyal, how have I managed to get almost 60 caps?”
Nahtino

WISH , this one will need its OWN commision to sort out

But anyway, theres always 2sides to a story ...

I agree that it was important forBenny to STAND up for the players ...

Look @ SAFA managing to pay 1guyR 1.8milion but our Coaches and players are SQUEEZED @ a MUCH lower rate ... sometimes arent payd even ...

and told theres NO money , play for pride ...

Quote:
Former South African national team hitman Philemon ‘Chippa’ Masinga is counting on the new Bafana Bafana side to revive the old ‘Bafana spirit’ against Congo in the 2008 African Nations Cup qualifiers opener at the FNB stadium tomorrow afternoon.

“I hope the guys will go out there and fight all they way and bring back the supporters in the stadium to give a good vibe for 2010,” Masinga says.

“We had a good result against Namibia the last time around so let’s hope tomorrow’s game will be a turning point. Individually we have some really good players in the current team, what we are still lacking is commitment and the right attitude. We must be aware that there are no underdogs anymore in international football. We saw during the last World Cup that there were some teams there who had qualified for the finals when least expected.”

Masinga, who was capped 58 times and scored 18 goals for Bafana between 1992 and 2001, knows all about playing and scoring vital goals against the Congolese. It was his downward Marco Van Basten - like header that gave Bafana their very first win in official international competition when they defeated Congo 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier in October 1992.

“It was a great feeling and quite an achievement even if that win didn’t take us very far for we didn’t qualify for the World Cup (the 1994 finals in the US)” the former Leeds and Bari striker says. “South Africa was still growing then as a soccer nation and there were lots of hungry players then who did not have a lot of international experience.

“What was exciting at the time was that most of us were still working hard on making a name for ourselves and still respecting wearing our national colours. Five years later it was Masinga’s superbly struck shot and goal from a Doctor Khumalo interception and pass that took Bafana to the 1998 World Cup in France after a 1-0 win over the Diables Rouge (Rd Devils).

“In 1997 we had a formidable team but we were under pressure for the entire 90 minutes after scoring early on. It was one of the toughest games I had played in.”

“In those days we fought as a team, from the bench to the players on the field and everybody was behind us. There was such a positive spirit in the country that even supporters were coming to watch us training in great numbers.”

‘Waltzing Masinga’ calls for more fans’ devoted support tomorrow.

“You know when you see many people watching you training as a player, you start to imagine what things will be like during the game. It gives you that added oomph! We need that positive attitude tomorrow and I also hope that the players will pull up their socks. It’s all about the will to win – if you lose you should go down fighting.”

but B4 we get out daggers out ... I must say .. the second half showed PROMISE.. and that we must start looking byond Benni and co ...

Our defence wasnt realy tested , but a good thing is that SO far we havent conceded in 2 games .. but our defence will need to be testd sometime ...

then our boys will hav 2 come back from behind ... these things hav2b learned ...

the 2nd half was promising as we srtartd pressing MORE and looked dangerous ...

Tso , Rasilimane ...Nkosi ... those gys came on and we were BUZZIng ...

Maybe Pienaar needs to come off the bench ... Katshelgo ddnt hav 2 much chances...

NOmvethe is a waster of note .. Id think perhaps playing him behind the front man in a free role rather than a pure striker would b his thing

another thng Tso's goal was legit !!! The refs are screwing us again on our HOME ground !!

PS : I think our managent/SAFA/Top PEOPLE must start exerting PRESSure and using untoward tactics on these guys now ...just to influnce the game a bit .. THEY DO IT !! Y SHOULD WE B FAIR !?!?

otherwise , Im encouraged, we'r building and imporving ...NO NEED to go change things DRASTICALLY.. but now we need to start scoring MUCH more now .. and we'l b on track ..

Parreira on mission to fetch Benni, Quinton

September 05 2006 at 07:10AM

By Mathews Mpete

Carlos Alberto Parreira has his first assignment. The South African Football Association (Safa) is sending the new high-profile coach to England to try to convince prodigal sons Benni McCarthy and Quinton Fortune to play soccer for Bafana Bafana again.

Parreira is due to hold a press conference on Tuesday to tell the country of his plans for the team. But it is known that he will embark on a meet-and-persuade mission on which two national coaches before him - Stuart Baxter and Ted Dumitru - could claim only limited success.

McCarthy, one of the most successful Bafana goal scorers, last played for his country during the disappointing African Cup of Nations in Egypt in January.

Since then, the former Porto and Ajax Cape Town striker, now playing for Blackburn Rovers, has excused himself from all Bafana games "until further notice".

The story is much the same for Fortune, who plays for Bolton Wanderers. The attitude of both players has apparently not gone down well with Parreira. He will no doubt ask them what their problems are.

Parreira has apparently been instructed by Safa chief executive Raymond Hack and president Molefi Oliphant to persuade McCarthy and Fortune to recommit themselves to the national team.

Officially, Parreira's trip to try to lasso McCarthy and Fortune has been neither confirmed nor denied.

GOOD LUCK COACH !!!

Bafana Bafana will travel to Zambia for their Afcon Cup game next weekend without the services of Mamelodi Sundowns’ winger, Dillon Sheppard, who has been ruled out of action for four weeks.

Sheppard sustained a broken foot during the Brazilians SAA Supa8 semi-final loss to Supersport United on Saturday.

Sundowns’ manager Harris Chueu confirmed to Kick Off that Sheppard would be out for at least four weeks.

“I spoke to the team's doctor yesterday and confirmed that Dillon will only return to training in 3 to 4 weeks’ time,” says the former Orlando Pirates assistant coach.

Bafana Bafana coach, Pitso Mosimane says they won’t rush to look for a replacement for Sheppard, and will only confirm a new addition after the team has assembled for camp on Sunday.

“We selected a pool of players to choose from and we still have to look at what we have at the camp before we think of getting replacements,” he says.

.......Pienaar.............Vilakazi.......................Nkosi

..................Zuma..............Buckley......................

Buckley played him as a striker as he wants to play, if he dont deliver put spandeel, hope the Combo between him and Nkosi works out.

Pienaar should be told to stay a little behind let Nkosi and Vilakazi go foward since they got more punch then him(he hadly shot provide killer pass, score ect., he should play a Pirlo role IMO, if you know what i mean), so if he can play as a deep lying playmaker while helping us keep position that will be great. Sibaya should work hard to win the ball, by moving all over the pitch together with Vilakazi(Seedorf role) should win balls too, since he can. Zuma and Buckley should be mobile, so that Nkosi and Pienaar can pick them up. They shouuld play many triangulation, then we must all track back when we dont have the ball, we go forward with 4 attackers (Zuma,Nkosi,Vilakazi,Buckley). Nzama should be asked to make his right hand side his own(doing both defending and attack like Sizwe use to do), as you I've left him a space below, while Carnel should concentrate on defending, since as you know we playing away, Zuma and Buckley should open up space for up running Nkosi and vilakazi since their good at, maybe we will get 2-3 goals from them. Aim to get an Early goal, then the second one, than we keep position wait for opposition to open space then we add third, Then showboating time baby Very Happy (I'm so optomistic Very Happy )

So maybe it can be like this

MAN ^^^THats Y I like this guy ^^^

Keep it up bro !!! Love your posts !!

AWESOME STUFF Bru ... Thats what Im talking bout , thats 1 of the reasons Y I wrote the other thread ystrday ..cos clearly as U explaind the 4-4-2 formation isnt all that for us and doesnt lend us much dpth to play and position players ...

I like the foration youv put on there .. very solid really and the guys on there have a bit of expeiernce ...

Nkosi is one to watch cos I think he's come on the scene pretty well ...and I think he can cope , now its just the bench that matters ...who do we replace the guys with when the going gets tuffor injuries ..?
nkosinipho

Yeah man, I remember some other day, I told guys in supersport forum that 4-4-2 system is not made for South African players or the current crop of players, since we got so many talented playmakers and CM, who got different style of play(e.g. 16V and Shoes).

Now you got players like Nkosi,Pienaar,Moriri(there is no way you can play in 4-4-2 formation), Scara(as you know he is not ur typical winger), Michael Nkambule(Oh God Styles Phumo is killing that boy by playing him at 4-4-2 system Sad )

Up coming Teko Modise,July Mahlangu,Reineilwe Letsholonyne(althoug he is more a CM, Papi Zotwane anothe CM,Kagiso Digacoi(from arrows) ect.)

Then you got players like Leremi,Cheese,Philani Shange, Siwahla(he is not your clasic winger, he is winger playmaker he does not need to go to byline to make somethin happen), who are not natural wingers but they are good-who can maily play in a dynamic 4-3-3.

The systems we should be using should be based on this type of players, not being blinded by a 1 system.

Got DAMN !!!

U know yo shyt hey .. theres players there I never really noticed ...

Im very impressed Nkosinipho !

On the topic tho, I agree with U , and just looking at yo system it brings a lot of excitment to me just looking at that formation ..

I think thats Y some players just end up not fitting into BB when theyr given a chance ...

A classical example is Surprise Moriri .. He looks TOTALY wasted on the right wing , and hosenstly , Pitso is clueless as to how to use him ..@ the mo ..

but its not just Pitso's team its also Khabo and Gavin Hunt now in the mix, surely these three guys can come up with a good system together and get us a POSITIVE result ...

By positive I mean @Least a draw with the oys showing a LOT of promise or a TOTAL WIN ...
Nahtino

Predictions Gents !!??

I say ..EISH Im sorry t sy this but a 1-0 los is a defualt result in my mind the way things havebeen going ...

BUT should the coaches and players plug the gaps ..I can see a 1-1 draw away as sumthing to work from ...

A win would be OUTSTANDING !!

COME ON BOYS !!
Nahtino

Zambia - Bafana Bafana

well well Bafwethu ! Just finished watching the BIG Game betweeen the 2 rivals ..MAN WAHAT A GAME ! A goood overall match from a BB point of view ..I mean really , when last did the boys look @least DECENT as they did today !?

Postives
Rowan Fernandez is THE TRUTH !!

Our defence looks ..solid , not IMPENATrABLE but solid and able to do its job ..but having sed that theyr going to GROW together more and more ...

Overseas players are needed..just look at Mbazo, Sibaya was VERY VERY much welcome as the midfield steel.. I never belived Nkosinipho..but he was great .. Carnell was stable ..

what a diffrence hey !

Tshabalala had a V GOOD game .. nice one from the debutant .. !Hopefully its his TRUE potential and not just 1game/NT debut form .. but WONDERFULL to see him

The attackers did well ...

S.Nkosi is THE HYT, I feared that he was a bit new to the NT level... but He's proved me wrong , and he's such a calm collected player ..WONDERFULL ..The guys who sed he's like Dr were ryt , his passing ,when he's holding possesion and shooting , he looks like him .. but more importantly , He's provided us with IMAGINATION and VISION .. also flair .. HE allowed Pienaar to hav a good game cos they hav a good combo together

DID U SEE the passes Nkosi was making !?! DAMN !! Even the ones that went OFF, but still, U could see the intention ..

Theres work to do still, but like I sed last tym, the boys are getting better and better each game ..

our next Qualifier action happens in March if Im not mistaken ? But anyway , lots of air between then and there .. and we'r BUIILDING, BULIDLING STEADILY !!
So w'r gon need to play games(practise games) trying out diffrent combos and players

WOOOHOOO !!! Its a victory, lets take it ..

Im so happy ..

1 important key to unlock this chains on Bafa has been found

Firstly like to say well done to the boys, you showed character, dertemination, and that you can die for this Country. Little by little we will get better. Lot of positives were obtained from the game, and some negatives aswell, especiall Defensive unit, of our team, all in all I'm happy we won the competitive match after a long time. One of the positive I'll discuss below Cheers. Others later.

I once told my fellow chatters in another forum that Bafana Bafana need an Player who will drive them, a player who got Positive attitude, a player who will make others play better, a Player who is Profectional can adapt to different situations, a player who can lead attack with creativity and flair, a player who hate loosing.

I must say that i am begining to see a trend here that a certain Player every time when he enters the Pitch doning South African Pride jersey,(Yellow/Gold/ whitte and green shorts)we seem to have a positive play, determination, fighting spirit, We create usually clear cut chances, generally the whole team plays better(although its not great yet) ect. If we can take a closer look to all games this boy has parcipated for Bafana since his Debut(Gold cup,USA),first he wasnt a starter, and a nobody to South African public, he got an oppotunity to start 1 game, he scored(does it reminds you of the most talented SA legends ever, in my Sig. Very Happy ), although we won the first game(where he didnt play), we didnt win it convincigly, we won because opposition mistakes(it was aginst Mexico), but when this boy played(2nd match), we were better(won Man of the Match award) what I sawed is this fearless factor he has, the drive of wanting to do better for Bafana(remember 1st Cap), something which is lacking to some other talented South African players(some are/were alredy regulr dissapointments in the team, they are reason we rank 77/something, theey got huge talent but there is something they didnt have, which I believe this boy got it). Add his natural talent+ the BODY(strength and height) required to play Morden football(Picture the legend in my Sig Very Happy ).

He has not been a starter fo national team, but man we centainly play Better when he is on the team(starting the game/coming as an early sub.), this is the kind of player who can take us foward, he can make other players that are talented but lacking the drive, fear factor(e.g Pienaar's etc.)playbetter. I believe Siyabong Nkosi should be given a chance to Playmake for Bafana, even if it means the Darlings of other peoples are Sacrifices it doesnt matter, this is the nation at stake, we all want the best for the country. Others have failed to make an impact in the team(Mngomeni's, Ngobe's,Sapula's, Pienaar's,Tso,Benni's ect. ), he just need a Chance i am sure he will take it by both hands,The boy can find his teammate with a perfect pass, its either he plays it wide or to his strikers but he is good at finding holes in defence, add that he got strength, skill, can variate his game, play as a second forward, play 1-2s ect. Also he got a HEIGHT and Body to compete in highest level of footbal.

Tell me one player who went to First Division, won his team(not fashionable team in SA at that time) the promotion to PSL(after 2-3 season the team being in First Divission if i'm not mistaken),being leading goalscore and top assits maker in the team, then came to PSL, on their first season, he shined above his teamates in a Big league-becomin the Leading goal Scorer for his team as a midfielder and leading assist stats in the team, the boy made the likes of Jury Merahe's look like good players, help his team finsh Top 8 in PSL(something his team didnt do for a long time while campaining in PSL), In his second season won his team a Trophy after 20yrs of Drought in the Big League, 3rd season in Psl-on a new team with big challenges has already contributed in prea-season trophies, him and Scara are on a verge to win KC a trophy on 22October, after a dissapointing start of the season, he step up for his team when his coach was on a verge of being fired, scored and played a big role in the winning goal,he is the one who playe 1-2s with Radebe, after beating defender with step over Razz

Man thats called a sign of being a CHAMPION, having Character, good personality + Huge Talent. Thats SIYABONGA NKOSI, Bafana Need a Champion, clearly he is the leading candidate on that(Teko Modise follows after 2 seasons in Psl)

All I say he give him Chance, play him in a system that can make him give more to the team, But I'm prety sure he can adapt to any system(when playing against Minnows, we can use 4-4-2 with him in the center but against big boys, we need him to focus more on attack), let him have Defensive cover, let him dictacte matters for us, I'm sure even himself would work on his weakness(finishing, stamina and more strenth to shake off defenders) to improve just to make us proud. But some people will say, I say this because he plays for Chiefs, No he got all the tools to be a Bafana great, Positive play, Professionalsim, Always looking for a foward pass or creating something for a team. All he needs is to be given confident, and say "son we Trust you", I'm sure he wont dissapoint us.

Remember how Docter Khumalo, Shoes Moshoue Bafana Careers started, look at the games they played for us, look how they changed Bafana Fortunes, More especially go look at Bafana Perfomances and results when 16V didnt play, you will see what I'm talking about. Go to www.safa.net. Nkosi is not 16V/Shoes in terms of skills, but he is close to them and with the Character he matched them, he can help us archieve what we need. Clearlly he is (16.5V).

With the supportin cast of Morris,Mokoena,Zuma, and palyers like Scara,Leremi, tso,Pienaar,Mabizela,Teko Modise,Ntuka,Davids,Reinelwe ect. we can go far.

P.S: Hey Nahtino, I wrote this post in othe forum first and copied and paste it here, Good to here that we see the Same thing on SIYABONGA NKOSI(16.5V Very Happy )
nkosinipho

It was Siphiwe Tshabalala third CAP if i am no Mistaken,(Zambia in AFCON, Botswana-COSAFA, Zambia-AFCONQ)-The first one he was voted for the fair/flair play award, Second didnt watch, Third good positioning, finishing was missing though-Hope he continues this way and Bring his team to PSL again.

Hey Nahtino, I dont want to be the only member who right Huge post, Its just that man, we need to talk about Bafana Bafana, what need to be done inside the field. The time of Complaining about SAFA ect. its gone, Players need to Step up and show the will that they want to play for the Country.

Remember With a Bad Bafana Bafana, our players wont get Contracts in Top 3 Europeans leagus clubs(as you know its as it is a case now, talent is there so whats wrong?? ATTITUDE & MENTALITY OF BEING A WINNER). So Bafana Bafana help players, so they are the one who should work hard and Improve IT. You see the point.

E.g why they are so Many Nigerians in Europe-Simple National team Success over the years, even average ones interms of talent compare to JJP etc. For Scouts to come here, National Team should be in a Map for everybody to see, then we can produce world class players-Because of National team success.

No problem no problem bro ... Its so nice to see BB coming up and growing from Strength to Strgnth ...

I was really imressed yestrday , esxpecialy cos a lot of us were expecting BB to get BANGED up the behind 3-0 (KAtongo & Co )

but I must say , Mbesuma i a hellva player .. HE cant be underated .. WHAT A striker !! HE was a constant danger to us , even tho he was 100 % but DAMN that boy can play ..

Imagine if Nomvethe was as powerfull built as him ..DAMN !

But we were fortunate in a lot o instances .. Zambia had the ball one time and looked realy threatnging cos they were gaining momnetum ..Id say maybe now theyr in More SHYT than us ..(Supposldy had the STRONGEST lineup possible yestrday)

And the player in your sig/avator .. ...

MAN SCARA in BB..DAMN that would be sumthing ...

speaking of which , I only started watching from the 30th min, what U recon was the formation .. cos seemed Mcbath was playing deep ..and he did a helva job

No i was not like that. It was more like this

......Nzama.............Mokoena...........Morris...........Carnell.............

..............................Sibaya..............................

..............Pienarr.................Nkosi...................Siphiwe............

.................................Buckley......................................

.................................................Bhele....................

Pienaar was always on the right, in that game but he was getting inside more often so he was not ur Typical Overrated Josta Dladla winger. Buckley played behind Bhele, but moving side to side-I must said it didnt quite workout for him(as ussual, but I like The guy he has been loyal to us Smile ) except for freekick IMO. Morris played on the left which was a great idea, since there were couple of times where Carnel was found out of position, and the man cleaned up the mess very well, If it was Mokoena on that side(we will betalking different story). Also they must Communicate more, did you saw the blunder they made befor the ball falled to that Dube guy, thanks to Mlungu otherwise Sad Sad

Sibaya works hard fine, but its not like he is Makelele or something since many times he is found wanting and out of position(does not read the game well). Lastly why Cant he make a simple pass?? we are not playing him to create goals, we want him to be a water carrier for Nkosi's and Pienaar's. The man cleally cant pass the ball over 10-20yard. My quetion isit true that we dont have a DM who is technically sound on the ball??? What about Spencers,Tsutsulupa, Shane Pogenpoor, Modubi, Davids ect. the advantage is we are building a team which means we can experiment a little.

I've got no problem if a Player like Nkosi or Pienar make a Bad pass or the pass being intercepted, when they trying to split the defence. Thats what they therefore to try and create, find options, Even if u not successfull but one moment of magic the defence is turned. For example like that Nkosi pass to Bhele who was clear on goal, but Bhele had no confident to try and score(where are Ronaldo's in this country?? Sad joking they will never be another one, maybe 20-40yrs from now Very Happy ) instead he waited for Siphiwe. But that was a great Vision from Nkosi. Which is something lacking in nowerdays in SA football, we are relying to much on crosses only to create goals. Which not good, who is gonna head the ball?? I say Vary your creativity as a team, its dont have to be wing play all the time, as it is the case in PSL.

How many 1 on 1 situations have you seen in Psl so far?? where a striker is put clear to goal by a splendid pass?? vey few(e.g Mashego goal against Sundowns and katongo 2nd goal against chiefs after a beutiful pass by Sono son), its just cross , cross , cross Crying or Very sad Even those crosses are poor Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

LET ME DREAM A LITTLE BIT Smile

Propose future Bafana selection(Mandela Cup) (provided all players are fit)

GK: Rowen Fernadez, Marlin, Josephs
RB: Nzama(for now, Ntuka should replace him later), Sakhile Mhlangu(Arrows,Better than Tau,Vuyo IMO)
LB : Carnell,Lucas Thwala(better than anything we have even Carnell)
CD: Mokoena(C), Morris, Mabizela, Tsilo(Jomo)/Booth
DM: Sibaya(for continuity), Tsutsulupa/Spencer( 1 of them)
CM: Reinelwe Letsolonyane, Tso Vilakazi
AM: Nkosi, Pienaar, Scara, Siphiwe**
CF/ST: Zuma, Bhele, Buckley, Ngwenya**

** Toss between Ndlovu, Leremi, Pule when the are focus and want to do well for the Country.

........................................Mlungu..............................................

..Nzama(Defend More).....Mokoena......Morris.......Thwala(attack&defend)..

..........................Tsutsulupa/Sibaya.....................

. ......Pienaar/Tso.......Nkosi(Chance Plz Very Happy )........Scara/Siphiwe..........

.................Zuma/Ngwenya...................Bhele/Buckley....................

Siphiwe is good, But Second half Sub IMO.

Triangulation, while keeping positional discipline, Putting ball on the ground and sharing it. Chances will come up any where in that team IMO, Especially when we play HOME. Goals will come too.

Since we will be playing against Egypt and they play 3-5-2, Do you think we can overcome them with those players??

What about this?

....................................Mlungu..........................................

.........Nzama...............Mokoena........Morris............Thwala.........

...................Sibaya.........Reinelwe(This boy is great)....................

....................................Nkosi..........................................

....Pinaar..............................Zuma................................Scara......

Reinelwe is great man, he can be our DIDI(Brazillian legend who played during 58&62WC Smile ) If you dont know about Didi i'll advise you to find videos of 58&62WC, or go to Wikpidia/google/yahoo/fifa site ect. You'll see what am taling about.

that 4222 is the one that suits our players. we have a lot of good ball players who are not so good when it comes to marking (Pinaar and Nkosi are two good examples). so they need someone to baby sit them. the same way that Ermerson does it for Kaka and R10. and then we can have another dynamic midfielder (think of Ze Roberto) who can run from box-to-box for the whole game. the only option we have is someone like Tso. he has the determination, strength and energy to win those second balls in the midfield.

another option is to switch to a 4-3-3 (when we are having the ball) and 4-5-1 (when we are marking for the ball). the holding midfielder allows the guys in front of him to move forward with ease. the traditional 4-4-2 is for teams with strong and heavy structured players like Ivory Coast.

Exactly VHAMBLIDINHO

Some people think, we can win while playing against a midfield of Toure(the younger one) and Zokora while playing with Sibaya and Nkosi/Pienaar/Tso. There is no way. We will win Against Maurissians etc.

Firstly this Sibaya dude cant dominate midfield alone(He is not a great reader of the game nor a great tactler he cant move foward, dont have a great pass). You play him with Nkosi/Pienaar/Tso?? We will be exposed thats true. This players are great they need cover, you cant put them on the bentch. We can sacrifise the real Wingers (which we dont really have Crying or Very sad ) just like Barker did. But this time we can Cover them with 1DM and 1CM, not 2DM.

About Tso man, what Iam going to be say is said because I love Tso, he is a great player, hard working player who is ambitious, an want to win all the time. But man I can see him help us in the Long run, the position he plays is critical, for somebody who is small in Stature can not help us dominate Midfield against this Giants of African football and allover the world. They will overpower him, I dont know whats your take on this point broe. Also his 20-30yards passes are not that great, he is good on short passes and also in poaching coming from midfield, shooting ability is not that great but well he is not the only one.

So I say he should fight for the spot with Pienaar and Nkosi for two spot in midfield, dont play three of them.

Bafana will be paid for friendly

When Bafana Bafana face Egypt in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in London on November 15; the players will receive a fee. This has been confirmed by Safa CEO Raymond Hack.

Last year when South Africa hosted Senegal in Port Elizabeth in the same event, Bafana's players received no pay, which sparked an outcry mostly from the foreign-based players.

They felt that they risked getting injured in the friendly international just as they would in a major international and therefore wanted to arrange a fee.

Before Bafana Bafana beat Namibia in a friendly in August this year, the players and Safa had a successful meeting whereby they agreed on an appearance fee for friendly internationals as well as a fee for wins and draws in major competitions.

Kick Off has not been able to establish the exact amount for a friendly international, but it is certain the players will receive a fee for honouring Madiba next month in London.

can U belive this !? They wernt going to get paid !?!What the hell is SAFA playing here , these guys are professionals , they earn a living from this ... and SAFA cant even b bothered to pay the guys their due ...yet Carlos will get a HUGE amount per month ..

I rmeber I sed this sum tym ago .. that if Carlos's pay can b sorted out pretty welll, then what of the players ....

When will we South Africa play our most talented players in the National Team?? Sad

What is Mkhonza, Gumbi doing in the national team?? Or please you tell me the Matt dude is talented more than Teko Modise and Scara?? No way.

I'm so furios, what wrong with selecting a 23man squad with every position having back ups?? This a team man not a spaza shop.
Isit hard to select players like this.

GK: Rowen, Marlin
RB: Ntuka, Nzama
CB: Mokoena (C), Morris, Mabizela, Booth/Fabian
LB: Thwala, Carnel/Masilela
DM: Sibaya/Spencer when fit, Tsutsulupa
CM: Lance Davids, Reinelwe Letsolonyane(Our DIDI)
AM: Pienaar, Gert,Matt, Siphiwe, Teko Modise
CF: Zuma, Bhele, Mphela and Sandile Ndlovu

This squad is balance enough you got 2RB experience and a possible successor. 2LB experiecne and possible successor.
4CB: The starters and their subsitute who are capable enough to replace them.

2DM: One as a starter and a back up
2CM: One those he will able to organise midifield with passing ability, and ability to tactle, this will allow ball winner like Sibaya not to make 40yard passes since this player will always there to get the ball from him and start the attack. A sub and a starter
Attacking midfielders: Although siphiwe is more of winger but, they all can attacking through the middle and wings. They are here to compete for 2-3 spots depending on a system i want to employ.

CF/ST: 2 of them can play as support strikers and 2 of them plays a target mans.

The squad like this can help a coach to develop tactics by using a game situation, by fielding two teams to play together in training. So tell me how you gonna archive that with 18Players?? in 18 of those players 4 occupy 1 position??

So you cant tell me that Mkhonza, Gumbi, Katza deserve to play for Bafana Bafana. Oh please ony in South Africa.

My point is since we are builiding the National team, we should try TALENTED PLAYERS who got the future in the National team, Not players who dont have a future in National Team. Bafana Bafana is not a place to push personal Agendas aka Soccer-Laduma.

Cant wait for Carlos Alberto to start and coach so that we cans see organisation in selection of the team.

Our selection should be based on the 4-2-3-1/4-3-3/4-2-1-3 not 4-4-2 formation with Pienaar and Gert at the center we will get raped by opposition like Ivory Coast and Egypt.

SAFA bungle Lewis’ Bafana departure plans

Stanton Lewis has received a rude awakening on his first call-up for Bafana Bafana – his ticket has not been paid for and the talented young striker is stranded in Amsterdam.

Lewis, promoted up from the Under-23 side to Bafana Bafana for this weekend’s Cosafa Castle Cup clashes in Swaziland, has been battling all weekend to get his flight arrangements out of the administrative staff at SAFA.

For the frustrated Ajax Amsterdam striker, details of his trip and a reference number for his ticket finally arrived at 16h30 today, allowing Lewis to set off for Schipol airport to take a plane to Frankfurt and then Johannesburg for his first outing with the senior national team.

But when he arrived at Amsterdam airport on Monday night, Lewis found his booking had been made but not paid for. After calling SAFA officials to try and sort out the situation, Lewis was told to wait for a return call from Johannesburg, which never came during which time his scheduled flight departed without him.

Lewis now hopes to get a flight out of Europe on Tuesday night but that will mean one less day to impress national team selectors, who will not have seen him play since his left Ajax Cape Town for the Dutch giants one year ago.

Lewis’ botched travel arrangements will come as further embarrassment to SAFA, who last year declared they were moving to become a “world class organisation” in order to try and match international standards ahead of the 2010 World Cup finals.

SAFA’s travel is done by FliAfrika, a Johannesburg-based agency with close links to Irvin Khoza and Molefi Oliphant but a long history of farcical mix-ups. They were dumped last year as travel agents for the 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee.

some people never change....after the match we will hear about players not getting paid all other kind of funny stuff.. Rolling Eyes

Bafana Bafana head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has made two changes to the South African COSAFA team scheduled to play in Swaziland this weekend.

Striker Eleazar Rogers of Santos replaces the injured Lebohang Mokoena and Supersport United's Richard Rantjie comes in for Santos midfielder Erwin Isaacs.

Santos have informed the South African Football Association (SAFA) that Isaacs has been suspended for not reporting for official club duty.

Meanwhile, Parreira will meet his technical team later this afternoon to discuss the program leading to the weekend COSAFA matches.

Bafana leave for Swaziland on Thursday and will play their opening match at 1pm on Saturday against Malawi at the Somhlolo stadium.

Benni McCarthy has been included in the 19-man squad to face Chad in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad on June 2 in Durban.

However, McCarthy, who has not played for Bafana since they lost 2-0 against Tunisia at the African Cup of Nations on January 26, 2006, has already disclosed to Kick Off that he will be returning to England next Thursday.

The Bafana striker has had a fantastic first season for his English Premiership side Blackburn Rovers scoring 18 goals in the League, finishing second on the Premiership leading scorers standings to Didier Drogba on 20 goals.

The team will meet and go into camp on Monday morning in Johannesburg and later in the day will fly to Durban to prepare for the Chad match. They will train at the Chatsworth and Princess Magogo Stadiums.

The full Bafana squad announced is:

Goalkeepers - Rowen Fernandez and Calvin Marlin

Defenders - Aaron Mokoena, Nasief Morris, Ricardo Katza, Cyril Nzama, Benson Mhlongo, Vuyo Mere and Bradley Carnell

Midfielders - Godfrey Sapula, Delron Buckley, Elrio van Heerden, MacBeth Sibaya, Surprise Moriri and Benedict Vilakazi

Strikers – Siyabonga Nomvete, Terror Fanteni, Sibusiso Zuma and Benni McCarthy

Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has indicated that there is a distinct possibility that some of the players in the youthful Cosafa Castle Cup team that left for Swaziland this afternoon could be drafted into the senior team that plays Chad in an Afcon qualifier next weekend.

Parreira named a rare 19-man squad for the Chad game and gave his reasoning afterwards.

“The door remains open to the players that are in the Cosafa squad. If I’m impressed by any of them, I will, depending of the situation, definitely draft them into the senior team,” says Parreira.

“We have a wonderful squad of players going for the Cosafa Cup whom we are grooming for the future. They are eager and this gives me reason to believe that some of them could make it into the team for the Chad game.”

I won't be surprised if he says he is injured or he is here for holiday only.we must give other young players a chance if he keeps on coming up with endless excuses.

Bafana Bafana players were filtering into Durban in their dribs and drabs yesterday (Monday) afternoon for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Chad at King's Park on Saturday but the bulk are expected to arrive today.

And, predictably, there was still no sign of Benni McCarthy. nothing surprising here

By yesterday Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict Vilakazi, Supersport United defender Ricardo Katza, Ajax Cape Town striker Thembinkosi ‘Terror’ Fanteni and Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez were the local-based players that had arrived.

The Mamelodi Sundowns’ contingent – goalkeeper Calvin Marlin, defender/midfielder Benson Mhlongo, midfielder Godfrey Sapula and forward Surprise Moriri – were due to arrive this morning as they had an evening function to attend in Pretoria last night.

Of the foreign-based players Bradley Carnell, Elrio van Heerden, Aaron Mokoena, and Nasief Morris had arrived.

Safa media liaison Gugu Marawa said the rest of the squad are expected to arrive this morning in time for the team’s first training session in KwaMashu this afternoon.

Marawa would not comment on whether McCarthy would be arriving or if there had been any indication from the Blackburn Rovers striker that he would not be answering his surprise call-up from coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.

“I will not comment on Benni. I will talk about all the other players but not that player,” Marawa said.

McCarthy has already stated that he will not be returning to the Bafana fold until certain requirements are met from Safa, including an apology from the head of delegation to the Nations Cup in Egypt, Mubarak Mohamed.

About the Congo game...

We are as good as through....I dont see Zambia beating us by 3 clear goals and besides that, we can still qualify as one of the best 2nd placed teams.

well done boys
