Players begging in the streetIf reports from East London are to be believed, a number of Bush Bucks’ players are in such dire straits that they on the street, begging for food.
Down and out players, living in the Southernwood flats area who elected to stay with the club after it was relegated to the Mvela League last season, explain that they are battling to make ends meet because they have not been paid since May.
Cape Town attorney Norman Arendse, who handled players’ affairs the last time Imbabala was involved in a liquidation process, confirms that he will be representing some of the current players in pending litigation.
He however, declined to add to his statement in view, saying that the matter was ‘sensitive at this stage.’
The Grahamstown High Court is sitting today to decide on chairman Sturu Pasiya’s application to have the liquidation process stopped on the basis that he is the rightful owner and not Trendmania, the company that is being liquidated.
The PSL, at this stage, has recognised that the club is under new ownership and some players that were registered to Bucks have already moved to other clubs, having obtained their clearances from the liquidator.
Defender Mbuyi Sambu has told the media, “We are basically starving to death here. If I had not saved money I do not know how I would be surviving now as the last time I received a salary was in May.”
Club spokesperson Lester Phiti says he is “in the same situation as the players.”

Imagine, Sturu is the guy invlved in the Carlos P negotiations ..man WHATA JOKE!!
But thats Y I say, Soccer is NOT a very good proffession... Id love it if our guys went into it with a VERY good backup plan and its truely rewarding once ur @ a good club overseas...
once players retire, Id love to see them get into more things than just coaching , we'v got mor thna enough of those ..
Rather get seriously into Admin of clubs or SAFA structures ...bussness , social development ..something like that ..
