Iam happy with the signing of Fransman,he would definitely add value to my beatiful birds.Naturally he has what is the Swallows way of playing but the coach would still want to instill some of his ideas on his play. With regard to Mathibe,I have not seen too much of him in action. He may take time to be popular wth the birds family.
VHAMBLIDINHO

i still don't understand why Fransman never got that left-back position at chiefs because whenever he was called to play, he was always doing well
My_name_is_Earl

the move can only good for his career taking into consideration his age. chiefs never really gave him the chance he deserved.

Mark McVeigh has confirmed that he will not be with the team next season and is heading to Sweden.

McVeigh’s contract with Swallows expires next month and the 27-year old says he has already taken his clearance from the Dube Birds.

Good luck to Mark and his endevour. It is good for him to find a new team as he was nolonger given chance at Swallows.

May he find a good team that will utilise him effectively.

It is about time for Gavin to look outside Cape Town for players and as much as he is looking at good young players that "may" understand the culture of Swallows, he is baffling with putting Liau on transfer though the guy is injured and has been for a while.

Most of the birds will agree with you 100%.Lia is one of the players who could lift our enthusiasms as he has the play desired by the supporters.

Unfortunately Gvin is just Gavin.
VHAMBLIDINHO

Liau is on the tranfer list? this Gavin guy must leave the team then. he has sold so many good player just to make room for those guys from CT. get a black coach who knows the history and culture of swallows

Maimane Phiri is believed to be on the wanted list of SSU. if he goes, then Liau must surely stay and Mokoro must be signed on a permanent deal
drunken_master

Moroka Swallows have announced that Tsweu Mokoro will be staying with the team next season.

The talented midfielder was on loan from SuperSport United during the 2005/06 season and coach Gavin Hunt was so impressed with his work-rate that he decided to keep him at the 'Birds'.

"Mokoro has agreed terms with us and we are happy to have a player of his calibre in our team," read a statement issued by the 'Birds'.

"We hope that he will add value to our team and will help us achieve our objectives next season."

Mokoro joins former Kaizer Chiefs duo, defender Bevan Fransman and goalkeeper Aubrey Mathibe, in the 'Birds' nest in 2006/07.
My_name_is_Earl

Its a pity that he's leaving a team that revived his career, i hope gavin gives him as much game time as he was getting at the super stadium... lest he'll regret going into the nest!

He just had a good season with the Birds and I don't see Gavin putting him on the bench

Moroka Swallows are on the verge of finalising a deal with Black Leopards’ out-of-favour striker Sibusiso Dlamini this week.

The Swazi international desperately wants to get back into action after a frustrating spell at Lidoda Duvha, where he did not see eye-to-eye with coach Bibey Mutombo.

Eish ! mara ! what is the duty of the VW sponsorship if we continue getting left overs? Spoko should have joined Pirates with his "run run and run some more but miss the target" approach to soccer and besides his name matches Ghost quite well Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ag Hunt is stubborn DGT. Mara who will coach your Buccaneers? Is Mwape still around?I think he should be given a chance.

i wouldnt mind the return of Bondas Rolling Eyes but it seems khoza wants to get somebody else. Mwape was injured for most of the rest. but next season he will be fit i guess.

Good, I think has a physique of a good striker. Your team needs a deadly finisher. I think Mwape is you answer provided you give him a chance, phela you guys are an impatient lot. Forget Bondas!

Moroka Swallows FC have confirmed that Black Leopards midfielder Sibusiso Dlamini is the latest player to have signed on the dotted line for the VW-backed side.

The exciting Swaziland international - who alternates between playing behind the strikers and wide right - joins the Soweto side on a one-year loan deal.

In a statement released to the media on Wednesday, Swallows also confirmed that they had tried by all means to sign Dlamini on a long-term and permanent contract, but the Limpopo-based side was not willing to enter into any negotiations in this regard. The 'Beautiful Birds' then decided to opt for a loan deal, rather than facing the option of not signing him at all.

'Birds' coach Gavin Hunt was extremely pleased at his latest acquisition, having worked with him whilst he was still a coach at Leopards.
VHAMBLIDINHO

Moroka Swallows have vowed that the public will see the best of striker Sibusiso Dlamini, whom they signed on-loan from Black Leopards.

Flying into the Birds’ nest with a bad record of ill-discipline he allegedly showed at Leopards and Kaizer Chiefs, Swallows’ move to lure the Swaziland international has been questioned.

“Look we have a good record of dealing nicely with so-called hot-headed players here at Swallows,” said club manager Bennett Mtshali.

“Remember we had Naughty Mokoena who had a bad record, but there were no negative reports about him while he was with us.

“It’s only after he left us that some negative things were said about him. Then we brought in Junaid Hartley, another problem child of local football. During his time with us I think Junaid played some excellent football.

“With Sibusiso, people should expect a lot of change in the player because our coach Gavin Hunt knows how to get the best out of the players. Remember, it was Gavin who made Sibusiso shoot to super stardom while the two were working together at Leopards some seasons ago. He will add value to the team,”
said Mtshali.

Thapelo Liau has turned down the opportunity to continue his football career at Moroka Swallows.

He claims that the offer they made him is ‘too low’.

The former Ria Stars and Orlando Pirates’ midfielder adds that he has other offers from rival PSL teams, but he did not agree on terms with any of them.

“I know what I’m worth, so I will not just sign a contract for the sake of joining a team. It is important for me to be happy with my salary,” Liau says.

PSL Castle Premiership side Moroka Swallows have signed former Kaizer Chiefs and Zambian international striker Songwe Chalwe.

The 'Beautiful Birds' snatched the talented player from under the nose of several other PSL clubs, who were all vying for the Zambian senior national team goal-scorer.

Chalwe is a proven goal-scorer at both club and international level. He made his debut for the Naturena-based side in a league match against Jomo Cosmos in January 2005 and immediately made an impression on the hard-to-please 'Amakhosi' fans.

"We believe that we have signed a player of real quality, who has proven that he can score goals.

"He is a player who has been a leading goal-scorer for the Zambian Under-23 squad and for 'Chipolopolo' - Zambian the senior national side - where he has formed a deadly partnership with Portsmouth striker Collins Mbesuma." read a statement from Swallows.

I think this is the best signee the team has signed for the new season and they deserved a pat on the shoulder for their efforts.

Chalwe is a good player, creative and can score goals. If well utilised,he and Niang will hurt a lot of teams come next season.

It looks like we are building well as we also have aquired players who may mend the loop holes that were leaking goals at the back.

GOOD LUCK TO MY BELOVED SWALLOWS NEXT SEASON.MAY THE PLAYERS HAVE A NICE BREAK AND COME BACK WITH NEW REFRESHED STRENGTH.

hey, he might turn up to be one of your best signings ever. since Mazibuko might play centre back and Phiri is gone, you need a leader in the midfield.
Two Birds

Really it time for young stars to be given chance. Here comes 2010 and we have to prepare and make our young players ready for that big event. This we should do by giving young good players chance so that by the time this dream-rich event comes suitable players are ready for it and see their dreams becoming reality.

As for Shoes he must quickly find himself a suitable place where he would use his experiences to enrich the youth, not as a player but something else.He is an Idol to many youths and should not compete with them for positions as this will make him lose the already earned respect.

Moroka Swallows have invited Justice Sithole (ex Golden Arrows) and Sibusiso Mazibuko (ex Bush Bucks) for trials when the team begins next season’s preparations.

According to Swallows’ manager Bennet Mtshali, coach Gavin Hunt is to check whether the two will fit into the Birds’s style of play.

“We aim to assemble a strong team that will compete for honours next season. We have decided to invite the pair for Hunt to have a look because we believe they may be able to deliver for us,”says Mtshali.

If the move proves successful for Sithole, it may his career.

Since leaving Black Leopards for Golden Arrows two seasons ago, the ex-Kaizer Chiefs striker has had an unpleasant spell at the Durban side as he saw little action.

For Mazibuko, it will be like coming home as he made a name for himself at the Dube Birds before being poached by Zulu Royals.

The attacking midfielder has also been on the books of Orlando Pirates with Bush Bucks being the last outfit he turned out for recently

Yeah,it's wise to sign players with excellent soccer skills but the birds are heading too far wth the signing of too many foreighn players.Let's face it we have these nationals:

1.Grg Etafia (nig)
2.mhd ouseb
3.grg Hummel
4.rico Botes all from Namibia

5.Edz Kasinauyo (zim)
6.Mam Niang (sen)
7.Sbu Dlamini (swaz)
8.Sgwe Chalwe(Zam)

and now we want to add the list?Really this is not good for the local players who are so much talented.

Ngwerume was not a bad player at all but what did Gavin do to him?benched him wayawaya. When given chance the poor boy used to score good goals for us.very vital goals.

Moroka Swallows’ target man Zimbabwean Evans Gwekwerere is expected to arrive in South Africa tomorrow (Thursday) for trials with the Castle Premiership side.

The 21-year-old, who won his first two senior national team caps in Mozambique at the weekend, confirmed that he will travel to South Africa tomorrow.

Gwekwerere scored twice at the four-team tournament at the weekend - first in the semi-final against Malawi and then finding the target in the third-place play-off against Swaziland.

According to Zimbabwean newspaper, The Herald, Gwekwerere says his focus is now on making a bid impression during his trials at the Beautiful Birds.

His manager Douglas Tanyanyiwa also confirmed that that the former Dynamos’ player will travel to Johannesburg for the trials that are expected to last two weeks.

“Everything is now in place and hopefully Evans will be able to grab his chance to become a fully-fledged professional football player.

“As I have said before, what I am interested in are conditions which protect the welfare of the player and I think he can get that at Swallows.

“The South Africans have been very professional in the manner they have handled this whole deal and all that is left is for Evans to show them his true class,” says Tanyanyiwa.

“I want to applaud the management for signing Gwekwerere as the boy is a very good striker and I believe that he will set this League alight when it starts in August.”

“He is very quick on the ball, always composed in front of goals, is confidence and he rarely misses when shooting at his target.”

Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows midfielder, Thiyekile ‘Ace’ Gulwa, who has been training with Moroka Swallows recently, is already looking for new team after failing to land himself a contract with the ‘Dube Birds’.

Swallows’ coach, Gavin Hunt has told Kick Off that his team has enough players in the midfield and could not sign him.

“There is no doubt that Ace is a good player, but we have enough players in midfield.”

Moroka Swallows official Sipho Xulu has described the decision to switch Benoni Premier United’s home game against the Dube Birds to Meadowlands in Soweto as a rare treat for their supporters in the township, who have been forced to travel away from following the demolition of Orlando Stadium, their traditional home.

So excited about the change of venue is Xulu that he believes it will even help raise the stakes for them in front of their Soweto fans.

Benoni, from the East Rand, have been forced to make the switch across Johannesburg to Soweto due to the lack of venues within their area.

“Everything has gone according to plan this week and the team is ready to roll. Only Mohammed Ouseb and Patrick Mabedi are out with injury, but otherwise we have a squad ready to pick another set of three points,” says Xulu.

The return of captain Goodman Mazibuko who is gradually being introduced as a substitute by coach Gavin Hunt, is sweet news for the Swallows’ camp, while gangly Mame Niang remains crucial in attack where he could be partnered with Evans Gwekwerere who scored his first League goal in the 1-0 win over Silver Stars last week.

United will look to July Mahlangu, Katlego Loke, Tsepo Masilela and newboy Brian Kgafane for inspiration, and even club boss Dumisani Ndlovu has described the switch as a blessing in disguise to play in Soweto.

Moroka Swallows are undecided over whether to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Jabulani Mendu, who is presently training with the ‘Dube Birds’.

Mendu started training with Swallows last week and according to the team's coach, Gavin Hunt, is still being assessed and Hunt must still decide if the midfielder will add value to his team this season.

“He has been out of action for some time and I am presently looking at him, in terms of, if his is going to add something more than what we have in the team at the moment. A decision whether to sign him or not will be made in due course,” Hunt told Kick Off.

“So far I have given him a chance to prove himself,” said Hunt, who also mentioned that after yesterday's defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns, his focus is now set on the SAA Supa8 game against Kaizer Chiefs in Durban on Sunday.

Contrary to an earlier denial by club boss Leon Prins, former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jabulani Mendu has finally signed with Moroka Swallows.

Mendu’s deal is until the end of the season, with an option to renew his deal.

His business manager Glyn Binkin is delighted that the Dube Birds have given Mendu the opportunity to play for them.

“I’m delighted that Swallows have shown faith in Mendu and have given him the opportunity to revive his career. I strongly believe that Mendu has the requirements needed to perform. He has been working hard while training with the team over the past month. He will be playing under someone who has understands his style of play. I would like to thank Gavin Hunt for showing his confidence in the player’s ability.|

Mendu cut his teeth in professional football with Dynamos before moving to Jomo Cosmos, Amazulu and then Moroka Swallows, where his exploits in midfield caught the attention of glamour boys Kaizer Chiefs, who took him to Naturena.

However, his stay with Amakhosi turned sour after falling out with then coach Ted Dumitru. Mendu then found himself on the payroll of Mamelodi Sundowns until he was found to be surplus to requirements and shown the door. He has been clubless ever since.

MEndu is a CHOP.. revive his career ? What the hell was he doing @ Chiefs and Sundowns then ..!?!?

I bet his agent put him up to the moves in the 1st place ...

One time Amaglug-glug assistant coach Kenny Ndlazi confirms that he has applied for the head coaching post at Moroka Swallows.

“I was asked to submit my papers for the job and I have done so. I obviously have an interest in the job although nothing has been communicated back to me yet.

“I have coached Swallows in the past and I am ready to take up the challenge again and make a positive contribution.

“However, I must add that there have been several other teams that have approached me for my services, but my manager is dealing with that. One of the teams is from Cape Town.

“I am 50 and it is time I joined the ranks of those wise coaches who are all in my age bracket,” says Ndlazi.

The former Ria Stars and City Sharks’ gaffer also dispelled reports that he will be leading Garankuwa United in the new season.

“My deal with Garankuwa ended on May 15 but I am also due to meet them next week. For now, I am not attached to any club though I believe they have a wonderful team. My heart is still with them because of the working relationship that I enjoyed with the youngsters there,” he says.

where does Mr Eddie Lewis come in now ???
Jake

"'Oom' Eddie is a veteran when it comes to South African soccer after having coached teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Wits and Blackpool in the '70s and '80s," Xulu told the Swallows official website.

An excited Xulu continued: "It is also worth mentioning that this is not the first time he will be involved with Swallows.

"He once came to us when the chips were down and did wonders for us; hence we have decided to call on him again to help us to climb to the next level.

"Swallows has been on the rise in these past five years and last season we came third after losing our second spot at the last moment. We believe now that Eddie and Ian Gorowa (the new Swallows coach) are the two men who will take us back to the top, where we belong."

Xulu is confident that the 'Beautiful Birds' will be fighting for top honours next season.

"We want to win the league and it would be nice to pick one or two cups along the way," said Xulu. "But having said that, we don't want to put unnecessary pressure on Eddie and Ian as they will need time to settle down.

"In the meantime, we will give them the support they need to once again make Swallows a bigger and better team."
