What happened to our football???Oh man when i watch games of old-during Ace Ntsoelongoa, Jomo Sono,professor Ngubane,Teenage Dladla,Ace Minini, Vader Mphosho just to name a few, up until to Doctor Khumalo and Shoes best years(87-97), i cant help myself asking what happened to our football??? Where is Passion to players of today?? What happened to our beutifull game?? Teams are destroyed moved allover the country each and everyday(But that deserve its own tread) What happened to football??What happened to Great Players in each every team team? what happened to players who can control the ball and pass it without even looking at it, while its plitting the defence to tears?? what happened to players who will score freekicks from anywhere?(i.e the likes of Prof Mlungisi Ngubane,Jomo Sono ect.).What happened to skill and flair? Oh my God when I watch football of today(Including european leagues), i see bunch of Robots chasing the Damn ball, for 90minutes. Players with talent are not selected for Academies because they are not physical strong ect. coaches are taking center stage more than Players e.g Mazinyo.Com,Mourinho of this world Today a player do a little shimmy than the fans and media are allover him, whereas in yeasteyears shimmies,Shibobos,Tshamayas, every kind of tricks, flicks, backheels, combinations using one twos,were just common, players could strike the ball, pass it with precision either a long pass or a short pass, Teams will share the ball in a most fashionable way. What happened to Beauty of the sport? wonderfull goals will be scored each and everygame, they had Passion for football, they died in the pitch each and everygame, just for fans. I'm not talking about flair only here, I'm talking about everything that make a footballer(Control,Passing, shooting, reading of the game ect.) What happened to the sport that I love so much? Instead of me watching 1 EPL,PSL game i would rather watch Durban Bush bucks vs Kaizer Chiefs(1985) or Brazil vs Italy(1970). just to name a few. those were games of football with everything, Today big teams like Pirates get 8-10 freekicks in a game 80% of those freekicks strike the wall, 205%off target whats That? No matter what you say football allover the world has hit a low In my Opinion, its below par. If a league like EPL can be called one of the best league in the world because it just got pace,Players being praise because they cover the lot of grass, Do you really believe that?? Who said a game is nice because of goals score at it or how many shorts were taken to goal, who said the ball needs to be pumped to the box all the time, hoping something will happen?? Do you know a 0-0 can be entertaining and fans still want to come for more(I'm not talking about 0-0,and wins are obtained by teams like KC,Sundowns ect. this days). Teams like Supersport United they Complain that they dont gain much support in tshwana, even though they do win they think the type of football they play can make fans comme to Stadium to watch them?? Do you think fans supported Chiefs because they were winning?? Why do you think Swallows dont have many supporters as before?? Its football baby, Quality football not just results?? Do you think I support Arrows because they are a Durban team?? Not at all they still got that little football although it not the whole, but they still can make you want you to watch them more??Oh I miss thos days, thanks I got videos of those games. What about fans who dont have them?? Do you remember how Gofrey Moloi tournament use to be?? Do you still see the same Quality as it was During 90s?? do you still follow High School football?? Tell me do you still see the Quality of 70-94?? What happened?? Money is ruling the sport this days all matters is results so that sponsors wont run away, that the reason the croud has been detoriating in recent years. How can i pay my hard earned cash to watch Lelo Mbele,David Radebe,kauleza ect. missing clear cut chances each and every match?? How can I pay my hard earn cash to watch players like Moriri,Ngwenya,Leremi,Lekoeleoa, Vilakazi ect. played great game today next match they cant even make a simple pass?? How can i go to Stadium to Watch Bafana Bafana where the beauty of the sport(what 16V,Shoes and co. used to do in the field)was replaced with Robotic played(Ngobe's,Sapula's, Delron Buckley's, i mean all the Bafana teams from 99-06) while talented players like Liau,Aubrey lekwane,Scara,Ngwenya(He is not a striker for crying out loud) and many more,are being destroyed each and everyday since they played the game in a way its suppose to be?? Somethings need to be done really WHATS YOUR THOUGHT ON THIS MATTER GUYS?? I'M TALKING TO YOU,EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED REGISTER AND ADD YOUR VIEW.WE NEED YOUR VIEW. |

I sense one of the main gripes in this threead is that generally , world football is becominga bit monotenous ?
as in We'r getting the same BIG clubs getting the expsosureand access ... EG; If Adriano was to move from Inter ...He's only realistically move to another BIG G14 type club rather than to a club that would probly need him and where he's fit in ... so @ the end of the day ... he'd probly sit on the bench of Chelsea half the season than be the strike Partner of Diego Forlan @ Viller ... YEha thats true ... and another thing... theres a BIG problem where European clubs now are firml in control and run the global transfer amrket .. so much so that youngsters @ the BIG talent 'facroy' countrys like Argentina and Brazil , theyr being plucked from their clubs even @ Junior level ... imagine the Sundwons youth team being plucked from under 14's and these players will improve and play real well for their clubs ..but Ul check the whole country has never seen them play before ... that wpiuld be tragic ... eg Messi .. he never playd for any team in Arg and wnet str8 to Barca @ 12 years .. locally ..? Yeh we'v gon WAAAAAY off... and I belive its gon take a 10year PLUS plan to sort out our sytsems from grass roots to the top and make us a TRUE POWER in the world Il hook U up with a great thread on XT, where the guys from Brazil talk about a similar topic ... U'd think theyr all good ad dnady but there is a problem of lower football standards as GREAT players are being pluked from their teams , the local league generally becomes average ..cos ALL the good players are taken and theyl NEVER see them play constantly @ home ... hell even Brazil NT doesnt ply @ home anymore ..just friendlys all over the world .. when last did a European team play in BEunes Aires/Rio ? Europe is RULLING the globe and our talent bra ...(Stealing our players , they tried to make Essien play for France) its crazy !! |

I think our coaches started adopting systems and knowlegde from overseas ... If U noticed .. a lot of them get their accreditaitons from EUROPEAN countrys ..England mostly ..
as oposed to going t LAtin/South America or developing our OWN coaching philosphys .. Ted Dumitru (I take him as a South African now) developed a doctrine/manual about African football and the players philosophy about 2 years ago .. are we distributing this and looking at what it sez ... After all he's been VERY successfull in SA soccer with a number of clubs and more importantly he's struck an understanding pychologically with OUR players. PLUS he has a passion for bringing up exciting youngsters ... |

U get strikers who cant score Midfielders who cant control the ball or have vivion Defenders who are RUFF its all lacking ... Look at guys even 15 yearsago, thy were somewhat MORE ALL ROUND developed than th guys now ... What happend |

a bit off topic but , I felt the Kaizer Chiefs -Sundowns game was played a bit too early ..

Its summer and Summer in SA is no joke ..its was so hot here (Durban) that day that just watching the game made me sweat .. nah I suggest we seriosuly condier playing a lot more games @ a later time or @night .. Night games are very exiting and the crowds tend to b bigger Wh cares about programming schedules .. is Selimatunzi more important than a BIG league game ? Anyway ..has anyone watched the SABC3Sport channel programe @ nts ? Unfortunatly I fall asleep a lot ..its damn late ... |

Night games are cool broe, so what is the standards of lights in PSL pitches??? Do they favour night games???
By the way Small teams plays bad football man, why??? they dont wanna put into the ground its just kick and rush.

Teams that play (YAWN) football Cosmos - EISH! They play that RUFF house tactics shyt the Ajax-Santos game was a bore ..EISH! Compare that to th Man U -Liverpool/Real-Barca DERBY's and theres a diffrence ... Arrows can play great carpet gfootball but the finishing is slack Chiefs play that MACHINE soccer ...its like Bayern Munich 1999 -2001 but Id say its improving a bit ..more teams are taking chances on OUR soccer (Pirates,Sndowns,MUnited,enoni ) ... as long as we dnt have the Eddie Lewis's of this world on the bench |
