It brings back memories. It has just reminded me of the first day I saw Swallows at Orlando Stadium. One hopes that Swallows of yesteryears might be rekindled. To answer you; I sort of like the jersey. My liking could perhaps have been be influenced by the warm memories. The V always meant VICTORY for us.

Moroka Swallows have acquired the services of ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender Patrick Mabedi and Patrick Thwala from Bloemfontein Celtic.

This was confirmed by The Birds’ spokesperson Sipho Xulu, who said the duo will travel with the team for their pre-season camp set for Port Elizabeth starting on Tuesday and ending on Sunday.

Justice Sithole, formerly with Golden Arrows, Black Leopards and Chiefs, will also be part of the traveling team to PE.

Kasinauyo? the man is a good player.I wish the team could retain him for another season and gradually introduce Mbhele in his place so that the young man should later on be regular on that position. If Kasi departs and Mbhele is left without stiff competition,he may not deliver as expected.

sorry Two Birds, he is gone!! Sad

Thapelo Liau discloses that he is currently negotiating a deal with former club Bloemfontein Celtic.

Liau did not renew his contract with Moroka Swallows after they failed to meet his demands. Now Celtic have approached him and is keen to wear the green and white jersey again.

“I would like to play for Celtic again because I am still very popular with some of their fans,

bad news for the birds

Gwekwerere looks good - Monyai

Moroka Swallows captain Tebogo Monyai has welcomed the management‘s decision to sign Zimbabwean striker Evans Gwekwerere.

Gwekwerere made the grade at Moroka Swallows after spending sometime on trial with the Dube Birds.

“I want to applaud the management for signing Gwekwerere as the boy is a very good striker and I believe that he will set this League alight when it starts in August.”

“He is very quick on the ball, always composed in front of goals, is confidence and he rarely misses when shooting at his target.”

“Whenever we play 11 a side at training this boy scores a lot of goals and even when we played Bay United in Port Elizabeth recently, he scored a goal,” Monyai said.

quiet a few, thyv just signed Dennis Lota ...

about Swallows

No place for Gulwa in the Nest

Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows midfielder, Thiyekile ‘Ace’ Gulwa, who has been training with Moroka Swallows recently, is already looking for new team after failing to land himself a contract with the ‘Dube Birds’.

Swallows’ coach, Gavin Hunt has told Kick Off that his team has enough players in the midfield and could not sign him.

“There is no doubt that Ace is a good player, but we have enough players in midfield.”

Asked for comment concerning the SAA Super 8 draw against Kaizer Chiefs, Hunt said, “We still have two League games to play before we meet Chiefs.

“I’ll have something to say about that match closer to the time.”

Moroka Swallows official Sipho Xulu has described the decision to switch Benoni Premier United’s home game against the Dube Birds to Meadowlands in Soweto as a rare treat for their supporters in the township, who have been forced to travel away from following the demolition of Orlando Stadium, their traditional home.

So excited about the change of venue is Xulu that he believes it will even help raise the stakes for them in front of their Soweto fans.

Benoni, from the East Rand, have been forced to make the switch across Johannesburg to Soweto due to the lack of venues within their area.

“Everything has gone according to plan this week and the team is ready to roll. Only Mohammed Ouseb and Patrick Mabedi are out with injury, but otherwise we have a squad ready to pick another set of three points,” says Xulu.

The return of captain Goodman Mazibuko who is gradually being introduced as a substitute by coach Gavin Hunt, is sweet news for the Swallows’ camp, while gangly Mame Niang remains crucial in attack where he could be partnered with Evans Gwekwerere who scored his first League goal in the 1-0 win over Silver Stars last week.

United will look to July Mahlangu, Katlego Loke, Tsepo Masilela and newboy Brian Kgafane for inspiration, and even club boss Dumisani Ndlovu has described the switch as a blessing in disguise to play in Soweto.

I hope the rumours that Mendu wants to return to the Beautiful Birds are not true. Personally I do not want him Swallows must look for a younger player from the development. Mendu hurt us deeply but going to Chiefs.

Exactly my opinion!! This guy deserted us when we needed him more and now he has lost power and he comes running back to us so that we could re-charge him.Mendu ona le matepe. He must look at the mirror for his age.He is in trouble.

Sure, Nahtino... the loss is painful mainly because of an own goal. Suddenly swallows cannot score...that really hurts.
