I have read from another newspaper that Carlos Perreira will not take over as bafana bafana coach.

Apparently safa offered him the job of being in charge of "technical organization for 2010" not the coaching job as stated before. Rolling Eyes

The South African Football Association (Safa) on Friday declared the signing of Carlos Alberto Parreira as Bafana Bafana's new coach as "a done deal" - but when the deal will be done is another matter.

An announcement made jointly by Safa president Molefi Oliphant and CEO Raymond Hack after a meeting of the national executive on the outskirts of Johannesburg International Airport clarified many of the unanswered questions surrounding the appointment of the former Brazilian coach for the 2010 World Cup - but left others immersed in a maze of uncertainty.

"Why shouldn't we be optimistic about something that is 99 percent certain?" asked Hack, although admitting that the t's to Parreira's four-year contract had still to be crossed and the i's dotted when he arrives in South Africa within the next three weeks.

And indications are that Parreira will not be in South Africa in time for Bafana's friendly international against Namibia in Windhoek on Wednesday - and when he arrives in time for the crucial opening African Nations Cup qualifying game against The Congo early in September, it will only be in the capacity of an observer.

Clearly, the exact date of his appointment remains uncertain. But Oliphant was able to reveal that Parreira will ultimately bring his own assistant coach to South Africa and complete a trio of Brazilians at the helm of Bafana with a fitness trainer.
