Soft drink giants Coca-Cola has decided not to renew their sponsorship contract with the Premier Soccer League (PSL), thus ending their sponsorship of the Coca-Cola Cup competition.

However, PSL CEO Trevor Phillips, who is currently in London, said that the competition will continue this season, but under a new name and new sponsors.

“I don’t foresee any problems in finding another sponsor,” says Phillips, “and I expect we will be able to secure the same kind of money that made the Cup one of the richest club knock-out tournaments on the African continent.”

Coca-Cola’s marketing assets manager, Firoze Bhorat, however, insisted that soccer remained “a fundamental component of the company’s strategy.”

too many cups anyway ...

too many confusing corpratly named competitions as is ...

and companies signing 3year short term contracts is frustrating cos then the whole cup changes and then they renvent new slogans and marketing for the new cup

NO CONSISTENCY !!
